Bright berry compote, juicy, with hints of sweet purple flowers. Palate is fresh with a mineral edge and underlying notes of cocoa. The Mayela project by Bideona reinterprets Rioja Alavesa’s grower tradition with a modern twist. Unlike Cosechero wines that are made via carbonic maceration, Mayela seeks to preserve the freshness and purity of the terroir from the slopes of the Sierra Cantabria using stainless steel and concrete (no oak) and only light extraction. The six different labels of this wine feature illustrations of their growers who contribute to the preservation of traditional viticulture and to the sustainability of old vineyards.
