Deep, dark, sensuous notes with dried clove, fresh blackberry, gravel. Palate strikes with slate and rugged terroir, brightness, dark berries. This is a field blend of predominantly Tempranillo along with other indigenous red varieties from 50+ year old vineyards in varied villages, showing Rioja Alavesa’s "distinctive tense and mineral personality." Bideona (meaning "the good way" in Basque language) is a fairly new project, started in 2018 by Andreas Kubach MW and Sam Harrop MW who view making wine in Rioja from an international lens. They reject the notion that oak-aged Rioja is the sole tradition, instead focusing on terroir-driven wines.
