Grey slate, lifted blueberry, cassis, hints of cedar. Rounded berries, bramble, plum on a mineral, volcanic driven palate. Four generations of the Sassetti family have farmed some of Montalcino’s finest vineyards for over a century; the estates are currently managed by the Lorenzo Sassetti family, Livio’s son. In the 1960's Livio was one of the founders of the Consorzio del Brunello di Montalcino; in 1999 the family acquired the La Querciolina property in the Maremma, within the Montecucco DOC. 100% Sangiovese Grosso della Maremma grapes from volcanic soils. Stainless Steel fermentation then aged 6 months in Slovenian oak barrel.
