Bright orange, lemon, hawthorn. Palate is zippy and minerally yet juicy with tangerine, green apple, white grapefruit, tropical notes and kaffir lime. Melgaço is the original home of Alvarinho, located in the most northern region of Portugal. The vineyards are planted in amphitheaters on hillsides with the mountains of Portugal and Spain creating a unique micro-climate with a perfect balance of rainfall and sunshine. In 1988 the first vineyard was planted at the Quinta do Regueiro Estate where winemaker Paulo Rodrigues makes the Foral Alvarinho.
