The Coho ideal is to produce flavorful, balanced wine from cool-climate vineyards, with an emphasis on fruit purity and vitality.  They chose “Coho”, as the salmon embodies an innate wisdom essential to understanding ourselves and our environment say winemakers Brooks Painter and Gary Lipp.  It is the steadfastness of the salmon to serve as inspiration to keep this ideal at the forefront, no matter how difficult the journey.

The Michael Black Vineyard is a benchmark for what Napa Merlot can be.  The vineyard benefits from the two defining characteristics of the region: cool, marine influenced air and volcanic, well-drained soils.    Licorice, blackberry, and black olive offer a wide spectrum of aromas. Richly layered, delivering spicy red and black fruit flavors with a fleshy and succulent mouthfeel..  Drinking window 2017-2022.

Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot.; Coombsville, Napa Valley, California.  92 points James Suckling; 91 points Wine Spectator.
