Chateau Cantemerle | Haut-Médoc | Bordeaux | Grand Cru Classe 1855 | 2012 Vintage

| Winemaker Notes |

A deep ruby color and aromas lightly highlighting vanilla: this is the first impression. In the mouth the wine is all softness and generosity. This is a classic vintage, soft and supple, full of charm. The palate is predominated by fruit like strawberry and red currant, which evolve to subtle game flavors on the finish. This wine is characterized by an upfront purity and finesse which is already fully satisfying with a cheese soufflé or quiche.

I appreciate the balance of dark fruits and fine tannins in this young wine. Medium-to-full body, with chewy yet polished tannins and a pretty finish. All in finesse for the vintage.   (4/2013)

Cantemerle's ethereal elegance and racy, classy style are unmistakable in this understated yet pretty, dark ruby-colored 2012. Offering lots of cherry, raspberry and black currant fruit, this is a wine of unmistakable finesse and delicacy. Enjoy it over the next 10-12 years.   (4/2013)

Bright red ruby with purple tinges. Sexy, floral aromas of raspberry, pepper, licorice and spices are vibrant and precise. Juicy, intense and very smooth, with wonderful energy and precision to the flavors of blackberry, licorice and spices. Very nicely balanced, persistent wine with fine tannins and very good grip--and no green or harsh edges. This excellent wine gets my nod for Haut-Medoc of the vintage in 2012. In fact, I was so smitten that I went out of my way to taste it three different times, just to be sure.   (6/2013)

87-89 points Wine Enthusiast

This is a fruity, lightweight wine that is very juicy and soft. It's attractively bright and fresh with an open character.   (4/2013)

Jancis Robinson

Deep dark crimson. Sweet cherry chocolate on the nose. Rich but fluid. Lively, juicy, fresh and harmonious. Very attractive in a lighter style but has very good length too.   (4/2013)

Wine Spectator

Supple and friendly, with plum and cassis fruit imparting a caressing feel while lightly singed vanilla accents guide the finish.   (4/2013)
