Rustic violets, lavender, cocoa, plump plums, black pepper, blackberry, boysenberry, vanilla cream, rosebush. Palate is fresh and minerally with a smoky flair, barrel toast, pine. 100% Merlot. Hermanuspietersfontein references the Dutchman Hermanus Pieters who arrived in the 1800s to the Cape Town area to teach Dutch. He vacationed at the springs "fontein" of present-day Hermanus, which came to be known as “Hermanus Pieters se Fonteyn”, eventually named by the Postmaster (Posmeester) Hermanuspietersfontein. HPF is the only winery to use exclusively Afrikaans only names for their wines.
